Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2013 – Official Light-Up and Opening Ceremony

Description: The Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2013 celebration will kick off with a rousing Opening Ceremony featuring the Official Street Light-up, dragon dance performance, an exciting line-up of multi-cultural song and dance performances by local and overseas troupes from Taiwan and China as well as a spectacular fireworks display. The streets of Chinatown will continue to be lighted up from 7 September to 4 October 2013. There is no better place to soak in the festivities and celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival than in Chinatown. The district, where the Chinese first settled, relives the traditional festival with aplomb. Be enchanted by the lantern-themed decorations of Chinatown as New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Streeet, South Bridge Road and the inner streets of Chinatown are decorated and lit up by a spectacular myriad of over 20,000 colorful lanterns of varying shapes and sizes, creating a kaleidoscope of colors.

Chinese Garden Mid-Autumn Festival Presents : Jurassic Safari

This mid-autumn season, “Jurassic Safari” at Chinese Garden presents an exciting and memorable experience for you, your family and friends. Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb

Description: For the first time in Southeast Asia, secrets of the mysterious Egyptian burial practices and mummification process will be revealed in Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb. Immerse yourself in a 3D film experience that captures the “virtual unwrapping” of the 3,000-year old mummy of Egyptian temple priest Nesperennub – whose original cartonnage coffin has never been opened – to unveil the story of his life and death, complete with a digital reconstruction of his facial appearance. Be amazed with over 100 artefacts, including six exceptionally preserved mummies from the extensive and famed Egyptian collection of the British Museum. The exhibition will explore the mysterious rituals of life, death and the afterlife in ancient Egypt. This exhibition is presented through the collaboration of The British Museum and ArtScience Museum.
